Favorite Thing about Feet:
That we take our sense of fun onstage with us.

I was surrounded by music from day one. Even before that, really, since my mom was into the whole classical-music-pumped-into-the-womb-will-Einsteinify-your-baby thing. I took up classical piano pretty early, and I never took it anywhere serious, but it became my thing and I played through high school. I'm not taking lessons here at Swarthmore, but I miss it a lot. Anyway, I also sang throughout middle and high school in school choirs. In high school, it was mostly classical music, though my senior year the new choir director really diversified our repertoire with a lot of awesome world music--everything from Tropicalia to Tintinnabuli. Anyway, a lot of that was technically a cappella in the sense that the choir sang unaccompanied, but 16 Feet is my first real a cappella group experience, and I'm loving every minute of it. It's a blast to spend time with these guys, and it's how I get my music jones after putting aside the piano.

So that's my abridged music biography, the stuff that seems most relevant here. What else is there to me? Well. I'm at a liberal arts school because I have no idea where I'll be in ten years or what I'll be doing. I met the love of my life on a farm in Vermont, where we both spent a semester of high school. She's also a member of Swarthmore's class of 2013, and I swear it was incidental that we both ended up here. (Seriously!!!!) I'm a burgeoning film snob, and I probably hate your favorite movie. (Mostly kidding.) I have a wholly inappropriate sense of humor. I'm keeping that sense of humor in check here. I worship at the altar of Tom Waits, though I draw the line at singing like he does. Every time the dining hall puts out sundae toppings, I drown a bowl of vanilla ice cream in fudge and heath crumbs and chocolate chips until you can't even ~see~ the ice cream any more. I'm a morning person, and get up circa 8:30 on weekends because that's when I'm most productive. I try not to dislike anybody.

And I like to sing.

Cheers,
Brian
